About Peter Janson
Peter's Bio
Considered a "gifted acoustic fingerstyle guitar player" (Dirty Linen), Peter Janson's brand of American Fingerstyle music brings world-class solo guitar playing to the concert stage. His playing is inspired by American Folk guitar, Classical guitar, Celtic guitar, and American Roots music, and his original and compelling contemporary style is filled with artistry, superb technical mastery, and heartfelt passion.
He's shared stages with a variety of acoustic artists including American Guitar Masters tours with Larry Pattis, Artistry of the Guitar tours with Ken Bonfield and Steve Davison, single concerts with guitar luminaries Alex de Grassi, Ed Gerhard, Dakota Dave Hull, and Chris Proctor, singer-songwriters Brooks Williams, Shane Jackman, Greg Greenway, and Tim Harrison, World Music artist Kinobe (Uganda) and Celtic artists Aine Minogue, Aoife Clancy, Robbie O'Connell, and many more...
With critical acclaim such as "perfection... highly creative," "a true artist's soul," and "perhaps the leading contemporary fingerstyle guitarist today" there's no wonder that his music has entertained millions throughout the world on radio, digital radio, internet radio, TV, airline flights, and live. He is a regular performer at guitar festivals and concerts throughout North America. A long time director of guitar studies at the University of Massachusetts Boston, "Janson is the perfect combination of instrumentalist and composer, entertainer and educator" (WUMB Music Festival). He has recorded music on 14 national and international CDs including five solo CDs and one multi-instrument CD under his name. He has written an article for Acoustic Guitar Magazine titled "Teaching at a University." His most recent solo CD is Compass Rose.
